ATNZ submission to the Reform of Vocational Education

12 April 2019

In its submission to the Reform of Vocational Education, Apprentice Training New Zealand (ATNZ) is calling on the government to offer incentives to more employers who take on apprentices and design a system that is industry-led.

ATNZ is New Zealand’s largest employer of apprentices in engineering and related trades, currently employing nearly 400 apprentices who are completing their training at nearly 200 companies throughout the country.

While it supports the Minister of Education’s desire to ensure the vocational education system is streamlined and effective, it says there are a number of challenges with the current system that need to be addressed to meet employer needs.
