Online learning gets a major upgrade

22 August 2022

The online unit standards used by ATNZ mechanical engineering and mechanical building services apprentices are about to get an exciting new look and feel, with fantastic new features including:

  • Easier to use
  • Better marking system
  • Smaller chunks of learning and assessment
  • Instant feedback for some incorrect answers
  • New booking system to talk to eAssessors.

A list of the affected units can be found here.

“We are very excited about the upcoming launch of these new units in the online learning system, Canvas. They have been developed in consultation with learners, employers, and field teams so they provide a fantastic user experience for our mechanical engineering apprentices,” says Susanne Martin, ATNZ General Manager.

Canvas blackout
To get the new content up and running there will be a short Canvas blackout from 17-25 September with no access to these online mechanical engineering units. All on-job, non- mechanical engineering and block course tiles will still be available.

Unit marking by Friday 17 September
We suggest apprentices complete their nearly finished units and have them marked ‘achieved’ before Friday 17 September, or they will lose their unfinished work. Or they can choose to start those unfinished units again in the new, easier-to-use format.
