General Engineering Apprentice 
Training as a General Engineer will give you a broad variety of skills and knowledge. General engineers learn about fitting, machining, welding, maintenance, repair, hydraulics, pneumatics, and fabrication. Start your application

Heavy Fabrication Apprentice 
Working with metals, fabricators make everything from steel parts to structures that are used anywhere. Heavy Fabricators work with heavier gauge plate, sections, and pipes, to produce a wide variety of products including truck and trailers, earthmoving machinery, and manufacturing equipment. Apply now

Light Fabrication Apprentice
Light Fabricators typically work with sheet metals and lighter gauge plate and pipes to produce a large variety of metal products. Get started here

Fitting & Machining Apprentice (three roles!)
Fitting and machining engineers make and assemble components for plant and equipment. The components are made and fitted to exact specifications using modern engineering processes and machinery. Begin your application.

If successful, you will be employed by ATNZ, the largest employer of mechanical engineering apprentices in New Zealand, and assigned to one of our great host companies! There you will get valuable on-the-job training while studying to become a fully qualified engineer.

So, have you got what it takes to be an ATNZ Apprentice?

• Do you want to earn while you learn, and have no student loan?

• Are you committed to 3 – 4 years study?

• Do you have NCEA Level 2 in Maths and English?

• Are you interested in mechanical subjects?

• Do you have a restricted or full driver’s license?

• Do you have some relevant work experience? (Not essential, just a nice to have).

Professionalism in the workplace is important to ATNZ, so to be successful in securing one of these awesome roles you'll need to show great reliability, punctuality and be well presented.

We also carry out pre-employment checks as part of the application process. These include aptitude, medical and drug testing as well as Ministry of Justice and reference checks.
