It’s not complicated but becoming an ATNZ apprentice does take some work. This is what a successful application looks like.
If you can’t see any roles in your area, fill in the General Application and we’ll let you know when something suitable comes up.
You can also sign up for job alerts so you’ll be notified when new jobs become available.
We review your application and if you’re a good match we’ll give you a call, go through your interest in the role and experience, explain a little more about the role, and find out more about you.
You may also be asked to complete an online aptitude questionnaire (numeracy and mechanical comprehension).
If you’re shortlisted you’ll be invited to a face-to-face interview with ATNZ. If successful you’ll then get to meet the seconding company who is hosting the apprenticeship. This is to make sure you and the host company are a good match. They get to know you and you get to know them.
You need to provide at least two referees (can be past or present employers or people in authority like teachers/tutors). It’s always best to let them know what roles you’ve applied for and they may be contacted on your behalf.
You’ll be required to undergo a full medical, and drug and alcohol test. In some cases we may also conduct a Ministry of Justice check (police check).
That’s not where it ends. Once a placement is made, we make sure apprentices get;
- health and safety inductions;
- standard tools and protective gear; and
It doesn’t stop there. ATNZ Account Manager’s visit apprentices ten times a year to check training programme progress and keep them on track with their book work.
They are there to answer any questions apprentices may have – about nearly anything.
